Five Point Someone is the one and only novel i read in the near future….Quite unexpectedly i liked it very much…

I enjoyed reading like never before…..The way in which the author narrates the story is amazing. The situation and college life in the story is quite similar to my own campus days.ANd the characters in the story is also similar to some of my friends.

I am very excited to hear the news that my Favourite book FIVE POINT SOMEONE is going to be a movie soon..That too staring Ameer Khan….I am anxiously waiting for a movie like Dil Chahta Hai .

Five Point Someone – What not to do at IIT! is the debut (2004) novel written by Chetan Bhagat, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. It is one of the highest selling English novels published in India, and remained on the bestseller list until 2007 since its release in 2004

The novel is set in the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, in the period 1991 to 1995. It is about the adventures of three mechanical engineering students (and friends), Hari Kumar (the narrator), Ryan Oberoi, and Alok Gupta, who fail to cope with the grading system of the IITs and come to be known as five pointers due to their perennially low 5 point something GPA’s.

About The Movie

Rajkumar Hirani is making a film titled Three Idiots for which best selling author Chetan Bhagath is writing the script. The movie revolves around the college life of three guys who couldn’t have been worse misfits in the institution (going by the title). Aamir Khan plays one of the idiots and news received recently also confirms Madhavan as another Idiot. The movie will have just one leading heroine and that is Kareena Kapoor. So, three guys running from pillar to post in an institution and one leading lady; for those who have read Five Point Someone these clues are good enough for confirmation that the movie is based on the book. But ask Chetan Bhagath or Rajkumar Hirani about it and they have something else to say.

As Chethan Bhagath said the other day in an interview that mainly focused on Three Mistakes of my Life (his latest book), he was writing a script for a movie which meant less pressure because no one cared about language or spellings here, and there was no direct reference to Rajkumar Hirani, Three Idiots or Five Point Someone. Rajkumar Hirani said that when they had started they too had looked to build a script based on Five Point Someone but the whole string of incidents of the book could not be effectively put into a movie script. So, they took to a different story that too revolves around three guys in college, which will be as funny or even more than the book.

Rajkumar Hirani had wanted Shahrukh to be cast in the lead but it did not work out due to certain production details and this is not the first time that a SRK-Hirani has failed to work out. But all seems to have ended well since Hirani now has Aamir Khan, and things couldn’t get better. Looking forward to relive the Dil Chahtha Hai experience.
