This is a comparison between High -end Dual Core processr and an Entry level Quad Core processor.Despite its large L2 cache and higher clock speed,the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 wasnt able to beat the Core 2 Quad Q8200.This is mainly because the latter features double the number of cores.Most scores indicate that even an entry level quad core processor trounces a high end dual core one.As far as gaming is concerned,both processors would contribute almost equally,because its the graphics card that matters during game.In any case,since the price is same.Its better to buy a quad core CPU as opposed to Dual Core.Go in for the E8400 only if you need the virtualization feature.
