Microsoft to offer voice to text in mobiles

Microsoft is about to launch their new innovation, voice to text or speech recognition application for the forthcomming windows mobiles.Microsoft plans to introduce the new service that will work on Windows Mobile 6.5 devices and will allows people speak with the phone to search the Internet, make phone calls to saved contacts dictate text messages etc.The users can also speak the messages which will be converted sms and send to the contact.

The technology is actually developed by Tellme, a company acquired by Microsoft in 2007. There will be a dedicated button in the mobiles that launches the service on the phone. The service can be accessed in a single click that compares to the iPhone experience, where users must navigate to the apps page and open the Google Mobile App to use a similar voice-activated search service.

In addition, the Tellme application is more than just search. Windows Mobile 6.5 users Imagine the situation where user can just speak “ call X “ and the mobile will call the person “X” from the contacts.I accepts the feature is there with blue tooth headsets but it will be a new innovation in mobiles.

The Tellme service is integrated with Microsoft’s Live Search by default, but people will be able to change it to any another search provider if they want to, “We don’t want to force someone onto a search engine they don’t want to use,”The TellMe CEO said”
