General Motor’s leading global brand Chevrolet has come up with their brand new model which is named as Captiva .The vehicle comes under its SportsUtility Vehicle segment (SUV). The all new Captiva will be available with petrol as well as with diesel making it the first SUV available in India with both petrol and diesel variants.
I always wondered why Chevrolet is not a common brand in India eventhough it is not new to India .
Chevrolet came to India in 1928. The first Chevrolet car in India was the National Series AB Touring with wooden wheels. Sadly, the years 1952-53 marked the end of an era for the Indian automobile industry. The ‘socialist’ Government forced General Motors India to shut shop, along with other foreign car companies.

The Chevrolet made its comeback in 2003. General Motors launched the European brand Opel in the late 90s in India. When Opel failed to interest the Indian consumer, it was taken off the market and Chevrolet came in. With Chevrolet’s entry, in 2003, sales increased.
